Black Hat

In the styling world, no words were more true than these.  Every day you put yourself out there, as though on your own personal runway, with the world watching.  People will love/like/couldn’t care/hate.  But what matters is how you feel.  And when you are in love with your style it shows and it is empowering.  The biggest hurdle to overcome when dressing as your true self is fear.  What if people think I look ridiculous?  Will people judge me?  Can I do this?  Ignore all of these inhibiting thoughts and just do it.  And if you want to wear that hat, please please please do!!  We love hats and why aren’t you women wearing them???  They look so gorgeous, flatter the face, complement hair, provide sun block out, hide black roots, hide unwashed hair, hide bad hair day etc etc.  Why are we not all wearing more hats, (and race days are not included in this discussion).  Answer is confidence.  Buy a hat and wear it!  Any money at least one person, if not more, will compliment you on it.  Try it and prove us wrong!

silver pants

Ok so silver pants are a little “out there” but how amazing do they look??  When we think silver pants we think outer space, robots, alien beings, Samantha Jones from Sex and the City!!  It certainly takes a whole lotta confidence to put these on but once you do there’s no turning back. The key is how you style the rest of your outfit to look well balanced.  As in this look, keep the top half neutral and very simple.  Basic T, white, grey, black and soft blazer style jacket or 3/4 sleeve length black jacket works beautifully.  Tip: make sure the jacket shoulders are well defined as they will draw the eye upwards and keep the focus on the entire outfit as opposed to just THOSE silver pants. And the belt is stunning, the perfect addition to tone down the pants.  The only drawback with pants like these is that they are remembered which means you can’t get away with wearing them too often.  However if you have an endless list of friends and socialise with different groups then you wear these pants till they wear out!!  With regards to shoes keep them neutral.  A pair of grey tone pumps would work beautifully.  All items worn with these pants must be toned down to make the pants the hero, including accessories.

You’ll find others will look at you, envy you, admire your confidence, love your look and wish they could wear it too so carry yourself proudly.  A smiling face is the best accessory.  Remember that 🙂

yellow jacket

OMG we love love love this look!!  In an era where we are all so obsessed with black, us included, we love the dramatic effect this mustard blazer has on the outfit.  It softens and styles it up immediately.  And the rolled up sleeves is such a hit with us, who can be bothered with cuffs/sleeves getting in the way of your bracelets, watch, food, coffee etc.  Colour is powerful.  It certainly gets you noticed and it transforms an already great outfit like this one with fitted black pants, leather/vinyl top, gold accessories and cool ass aviators to the next level of awesomeness!!  It actually makes the outfit pop and that is the magic of colour, especially paired with black.  Keep accessories, shoes and bag neutral, only 1 item must pop!  Don’t go into overload or you’ll kill it. Just saying 😉

Black Heels with mesh

Why are we women so obsessed with shoes?  We all have different reasons for loving our footwear and why not:

  1. they add glamour
  2. change our style without being right in other people faces
  3. give us height
  4. look pretty
  5. add a special something to a somewhat unexciting outfit and the list goes on and on

This particular style of shoe looks hot!  The exposed ankle boot with stiletto heel is incredible sexy.  Just be mindful that ankle boot styles make the legs appear shorter and if you don’t have long legs they can appear stumpy to choose carefully when pairing with your outfit.

Jewellery

Bohemian style is just that!  Eclectic, old, worn, tells a story, unique and so on. What it isn’t is glitzy, shiny, brand new and like all the rest.  You can mix and match and it always works.  And this type of jewellery allows for very simple clothing.  Long maxi, tank top and shorts/skirt, basic T and jeans, very uncomplicated clothing as the jewellery is the stand out! One piece of advice….this style always looks better with a tan so get your Model Co. spray and creams out and bronze up!!  Who cares if it’s Winter in Melbourne instead of the hot Summer in Bali.  You’ll feel better for it.

Ainslee hall of fame edited

The final product! Ainslee all done up at the awards night that we styled her for. Her minimalistic accessories really allow for the dress to shine. And shine it does! Ainslee originally had her heart set on a headpiece to go with this outfit, but we thought that would offset the glamour of the dress. We instead decided to go with a side sweeping fringe to keep the look elegant and simple. We really think it worked and Ainslee couldn’t have been happier with the end result.
